Presidential Election and Mrs. O's Class 2012

On our way to Wegmans to recycle for our
in-school job!

Our classroom is working hard on meeting IEP goals!  The students like working with Mrs. Stephanie (TA) and Ms. Kate (Speech) .
Debbie (OT) is always willing to lend an hand!

We worked with the Community Classroom to run our: VOTER REGISTRATION and PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION for the entire school! I am so proud my students!

Debbie was our 1st VOTER!

"ID PLEASE!" Great job Nic and Emily!

"SIGN HERE!" Jon and Rebecca working together!

After each person votes Amber and Teale helped pass out a "I VOTED TODAY" sticker and a piece of candy that we used in our Halloween Vote: STARBURST won!

We had a SENATOR visit the classroom during our election
- he was VERY impressed with our class!

Mrs. Moore's class came to vote!

Nic is signing in each student.

All of our students rotated election/ registration jobs and worked together!

Our voting booth!

Mrs. Schnabel's class came to vote!

We had a colorful classroom full of:
Letters to the candidates,
registration sign-up and even election coffee cups!

We differentiated our voting experience by adding larger print and candidate pictures!

Our vice principal Kathy wore her sticker that Anah gave her;
when she was done voting!

Rebecca, Nic and Teale worked together to register Mr. McGough's class!

Mrs. Greco's and Mrs. Kovall's classes both reigstered to vote!
Video of our classroom election announcement to the school!

Mrs. P's class came to vote!

The last person to vote was our very own CEO Donna Dedee!

We kept up with our election news by reading the newspaper and watching videos from:
www.brainpopjr.com, www.pbskids.org, and scholastic election coverage.
(Our students pass out newspapers for their in-school job; as part of our Transition Program)

Jon is working with Mrs. Stephanie on our classes' 16 Election Sight Words:
white house, veto, president, ballot, vice president, candidate, policy, cabinet, nominate, bill, first lady, vote, election, treaty, armed forces and government

Here is our hand-painted mural outside of our classroom!
Each week we learn the definition of a new word and we do an investigation all week long to learn how it connects our class to the election.

Here is our picture of one of our connection from president to money.
Amber is writing in her schedule; this is how we keep parents involved in what we are learning about in our in-school election!
